This exhibition is dedicated to the eminent politician of the Soviet Union – Kliment Efremovich Voroshilov (1881-1969). Rising from the ranks of a Lugansk worker to become Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he became a symbol of the epoch during his lifetime. Songs and literary works were dedicated to him, cities and military hardware were named in his honour. In 1928, his appearance was included in the sculptural composition of the "Republic" monument in Taksim Square in the Turkish Istanbul, and a lifetime monument by sculptor Vera Mukhina was installed in Voroshilovgrad (now Lugansk) in the 1930s.

The display in the Moscow Kremlin, on the territory of which K.E. Voroshilov lived until 1962 (his apartment was located in the Grand Kremlin Palace), includes his orders and decorations, personal belongings from his studies, rare photographs, a marshal’s full dress uniform from the 1940s. This exhibition, which brings together ten national museums, reveals the image of K.E. Voroshilov in official Soviet art – in the works of I.I. Brodsky, V.S. Svaroga, E.A. Katsman, as well as in sculpture, graphics and even lacquer miniatures. The character of Kliment Efremovich created by Soviet artists shows him both as a soldier of the Red Army, fearlessly riding into battle on a warhorse, and as a complete politician, People's Commissar of Defence of the USSR.

 The exhibition also highlights Kliment Efremovich's relationship with the creative intelligentsia of the time. In 1947, with his help, the All-Russian Academy of Arts was transformed into the USSR Academy of Arts. K.E. Voroshilov's inner circle included such famous artists as A.M. Gerasimov, I.I. Brodsky, E.A. Katsman, V.S. Svarog, with whom he had a long-standing friendship. Isaac Brodsky dedicated several works to him, including the last large canvas depicting Voroshilov as the personification of Soviet sport – "People's Commissar of Defence K.E. Voroshilov on a Ski Walk". The show also includes an autolithograph by I.I. Brodsky "Portrait of K.E. Voroshilov". In the 1930s Voroshilov was in close contact with writer M. Gorky. Vassily Svarog's painting "Voroshilov and Gorky at the Shooting Gallery" depicts their shooting competition in the Central House of the Red Army. Kliment Efremovich played a key role in the attempt to return the painter Ilya Repin to Russia. He had a particularly close friendship with Alexander Gerasimov, People's Artist of the USSR, Academician and President of the USSR Academy of Arts, author of one of the most famous paintings dedicated to the People's Commissar "I.V. Stalin and K.E. Voroshilov in the Kremlin". A miniature reproduction of this work can be seen in the exhibition on the lid of a casket by P.I. Meschaninov given on loan by the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum.
