Double-barreled flintlock riffle

The Moscow Kremlin Museums take part in the exhibition project of the Tula State Museum of Arms dedicated to the work of Tula armourers from the 17th to the 21st centuries. The small exposition presents the best examples of hunting, ceremonial, cold arms and firearms created over several centuries, as well as works of modern author's gunsmithing.

The exhibition allows to get acquainted with the variety of design solutions and decorative techniques of the Tula masters, including the unique technique of developing the texture of Damascus steel on the barrel of the arm by means of etching and gilding, which gave the effect of moiré surface. Among the late works, the miniature working models of firearms will undoubtedly attract the attention of the public.

Many of the pieces on display belong to the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums, including an exceptional piece – an 18th-century desk object that combines a pistol, an inkstand and a candlestick.
