On 3 November 2021, the 'Prince Dmitry Pozharsky. History and Legend' exhibition organized by the Moscow Kremlin Museums has opened in the State Historical Museum.

Director of the State Historical Museum Alexey Levykin and director-general of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina attended the opening ceremony. In their welcoming addresses, the heads of the two largest Moscow museums marked the uniqueness of the project by describing the rarest artefacts linked to Dmitry Pozharsky being gathered at the exhibition. 

'It is known, that Russia experienced a tremendous rise of public interest towards the country history in the 19th century. That period is marked by an active search and acquisition of artefacts – the witnesses of different epochs. The Armoury Chamber became the place where precious relics were gathered and kept. It was the time when many pieces associated with Dmitry Pozharsky and oral literature about him came into the museum collection,' said Elena Gagarina, director-general of the Moscow Kremlin Museums, in her welcoming speech. 

The banner of Prince Dmitry Pozharsky is the key piece of the display. It bears the image of the Pantocrator on the one side and the Archangel Michael and Joshua on the other. The banner was housed in the Church of the Transfiguration in Purekh Village of Nizhniy Novgorod Province – one of the prince’s estates – before it was handed to the Armory Chamber by order of Emperor Nicholas I in 1826.
