On the occasion of the 262nd Anniversary of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Director General of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Yurievna Gagarina was made an honorary professor of the MSU. It took place at the ceremonial meeting on the 25th of January, 2017.
As noted by Rector of the MSU, full member of the Academy Victor Antonovich Sadovnichy, the Academic Council awarded E.Y.Gagarina the rank of an honorary professor for her contribution to the development of museum affairs in Russia and effective cooperation with the Moscow University. Each year two University graduates – one Russian and one foreign citizen are conferred this superior award. This year, a professor of the University of Berlin scientist physiologist Horst Gering became an honorary professor of the MSU.
“It is a good tradition – conferring the rank of an honorary professor of the Moscow University on the Tatiana’s Day,” noted V.A.Sadovnichy. “The graduate of the Moscow State University Elena Yurievna Gagarina is the curator of the main treasury of our country – the Museum and Heritage Site ‘The Moscow Kremlin’, which is justly considered to be the pearl among Russia’s sights. By everyday painstaking work Elena Yurievna creates most favorable conditions for the development of cultural and educational sphere,” he emphasized.
“It is a great honour and pleasure for me today to become a part of the community of the Moscow University professors. I would like to thank all my teachers who educated us as their successors. And now it might be the time for us to do the same. The Moscow University and the Moscow Kremlin Museums have always been partner organizations, and I hope it will always be so,” responded E.Y.Gagarina.
