The Night of the Museums

On 18 May 2024, the Moscow Kremlin Museums will join the All-Russian Campaign “The Night of the Museums”. A special evening program will be held in the museum’s Lecture Hall on the Manezhnaya street, 7.

At 16:00, the lecture “Marry for Love: Happy Dynastic Marriages will tell the audience what demands the representatives of the ruling dynasty placed on the future spouse, what guided the Russian sovereigns when choosing the life partner and which of the monarchs managed to create a stable family. The lecture will end with a quiz, devoted to the Russian tsars and tsarinas. The winners will receive prizes!

At 18:00, the interactive programme Family Evening in the Gedeonov’s Mansion: Old Games and Entertainments in the Noble Houses of the 19th Century” will start. The guests will learn when the table-top games appeared, what the difference was between chess and backgammon, what game of the goose and spillikins were about.

During the evening, the guests will try their literary talents while partaking in the quizzes and poetical competitions, entertain themselves with table-top games and also play at spillikins and forfeits.
