The Moscow Kremlin Museums will present the publications at the International Book Fair for High-Quality Fiction and Non-Fiction “Non/fiction” which will take place in the Gostiniy Dvor from 5 to 8 December 2024.
Among the novelties, presented at the fair is the catalogue of the current exhibition “The Legacy of Peter the Great and Coups D’Etat in the Russian Empire”. This large-scale project which united 260 exhibits from the 14 biggest museums, archives and libraries of Moscow and Saint Petersburg tells about the power struggle and participants of palace plots. The richly illustrated catalogue has five sections and includes two introductory articles. It covers the period from the death of Peter the Great to the assassination of Emperor Paul I in 1801.
Two editions of the Moscow Kremlin Museums entered the Top-list of the fair, they are the exhibition catalogue “The Legacy of Peter the Great and Coups D’Etat in the Russian Empire” in the nomination “Adults’ Literature” and the book for family reading “Tsar Fyodor Alexeevich” from the series “Russian Sovereigns” in the nomination “Children's Literature”.
The eldest son of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich ruled only for 6 years and three months – from January 1676 to April 1682. Despite his poor health, Fyodor Mikhailovich was an active monarch and kindless politician at times: the first attempts to modernize the country were undertaken under his rule. His short governing usually fades in comparison to the epoch of Peter’s reforms, however, the book will help in understanding how the activity of a young monarch correlated to the period of his father’s rule and how it influenced the following epoch of Emperor Peter the Great.
Catalogues of former exhibitions will be presented at the fair too. The guests will have an opportunity to buy the popular edition “Amateur Scholars of Russian History. Pavel Karabanov and Moscow Collectors of the 19th Century” devoted to the items which the amateurs of Russian ancientries collected. The catalogue "The Elegance of Silver: Valuables of the Omani Court" featuring the art pieces of the Omani craftsmen – from daggers and waistbands to jewellery – will be also available at the fair.
This colourful edition will also tell about unique pieces of silver jewellery such as necklaces, women’s and children’s bracelets, headpieces with pendants, etc.
Scientific research, monographs, guidebooks and albums of the Moscow Kremlin Museums, stationery, and souvenirs are available on the stand F-10.
