On 18 May 2024, the Moscow Kremlin Museums joined the All-Russian Campaign “The Night of the Museums”. A special evening programme with lecture, quizzes and table-top games awaited the guests in the Museum’s Lecture Hall on the Manezhnaya street.
During the lecture “Marry for Love: Happy Dynastic Marriages” the visitors learned how the dynastic marriages of the Russian tsars were concluded in the 16th-17th cc., what demands the representatives of the ruling dynasty placed on the future spouse, did thenewly-weds see each other before the ceremony, what role the political views and opinions of the relatives played, and what is more important – were such marriages strong or not? The lecture finished with an exciting quiz on tsars and tsarinas, their children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Having divided into two teams, the participants were actively involved in the process. Regardless of the place, every team member received the prize!
In the evening, the interactive programme “Family Evening in the Gedeonov’s Mansion: Old Games and Entertainments in the Noble Houses of the 19th Century” told the audience about the games of the past that were popular at balls, in houses and on the road. After the introduction, the guests played under the guidance of Lector Yulia Uvarova at literary and card games, spillikins and forfeits.
