The 10th-anniversary music festival “Ambassadorial Gifts” in the Moscow Kremlin Museums was sold out. This year the project was dedicated to a large-scale exhibition "The Legacy of Peter the Great and Coups d'Etat in the Russian Empire".
The guests listened to the works referring to the dramatic events of “the epoch of palace storms”. They learned about the art of composers which worked in Russia and contributed to the formation of a national music school. The marches of the oldest Russian regiments – the Semyonovsky and Preobrazhensky, fragments of the first Russian opera “Cephalus and Prokris”, aria of Selene "Diro che fidasei" from the opera “Dido Abandoned”, aria and recitative of Rosina “Leggiamo questo foglio... Giusto ciel" from the opera “The Barber of Seville” as well as poems by Mikhail Lomonosov, fables by Vasily Tredyakovsky, Jean de La Fontaine and Alexander Sumarokov sounded during the festival.
The music pieces were performed by the leading music bands of the capital: the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation under the guidance of honoured artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Durygin, baroque ensemble “Soloists of Catherine the Great” and AXL Academy EarlyMusic under the guidance of Andrey Reshetin, and Chamber orchestra “Reverse Perspective” under the guidance of Ekaterina Dryazzhina, founder of ensemble “La Villa Barocca”.
