Saint Louis and the relics of Sainte-Chapelle

In March 2017 the Moscow Kremlin Museums introduce the greatest achievements of medieval culture of France to the Russian audience. This joint international project incorporates masterpieces related to the epoch of one of the most famous French kings – Saint Louis IX (1214 - 1270), including those of the Louvre Museum, Museum of the Middle Ages (Cluny), the remarkable glasses from Sainte-Chapelle and the highlight of the exposition – the Reliquary for the Crown of Thorns of the Savior from the Notre Dame Cathedral.

In July 2017 the Moscow Kremlin Museums host an exhibition presenting Japanese applied and decorative art of the late 18th – early 20th centuries from the private collection of a world-famous British scientist, collector and philanthropist of Iranian origin Professor Nasser David Khalili. One third of the exhibits will be exposed for the first time!

At the end of the year 2017 the Moscow Kremlin Museums hold an exhibition exploring the history and culture of the Portuguese colonial empire of the 16th–18th centuries. Miraculous treasures of the royal Portuguese court are to be exposed in their splendor and beauty, i.e. ceremonial objects from palaces, jewellery, coins, liturgical objects, weapons and armour, documents, engravings, atlases, maps, navigation instruments and tools, manuscripts and books, exhibits illustrating history of the establishment and life of the Portuguese colonial empire.
