2008
In 2007-2008 restoration works were carried out on the eastern and southern facades of the Armoury Chamber.
During the restoration process the damaged white-stone elements of some capitals, carved pillars and shaped cornices were replaced by new pieces. Copper coverings of the cornices and weatherings were also renovated; the corroded details, superimposed on forged window grills, were replaced by new pieces, the metal corrosion was removed from the surfaces which were later painted with red lead.
Upon completion of restoration works on walling material, the facades were completed with a renovated décor. Finishing works included the restoration of the lost stucco, of the yellow colour of painted piers, white colour of decorative plastered window framings and of white-stone elements. Window grills and sash pulleys of the facade's side were furbished up and repainted; new copper coverings of the cornices, windowsills and capitals were painted in colour of the main roofing.
The eastern facade was completed with new wooden doors – the front one and the false door, aperture of which dates back to the XIXth century. The door frame and door leaf were modelled on historical fragments, however, their construction was improved with new technical characteristics, such as light-weight design and thermo-insulation.
Restoration and finishing works on the external walling kept pace with the renovation and cosmetic repairs in the halls and in some service rooms of the administration section of the building.
