9, 13, 26 October and 11 November 2015.
The Moscow Kremlin Museums present The Second International Music Festival "Ambassadorial gifts", dedicated to the exhibition "Boris Godunov. From a Courtier to the Sovereign of All Russia". Historians use to underline his wit of the statesman and diplomatic abilities, nevertheless some of the negative features of his personality are often emphasized. Even during the reign of Tsar Feodor Ioannovich he obtained the right to receive the foreign envoys. Godunov’s court maintained diplomatic relationships with several countries of Europe and East, namely England, Italy, the Roman Empire and Persia. Material testimonies of the reception of foreign ambassadors which brought luxurious and unique gifts to the Tsar are preserved in the collections of the Armoury Chamber. This season we plan to present four concerts including the authentic music of the 16th – 17th centuries played by well-known ensembles from Russia, Iran, the UK and France.
