Photography Exhibition of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Opened in Khabarovsk

The photography exhibition under the title “Moscow. Kremlin. Exact Time” has opened in the International Airport of Khabarovsk named after G. I. Nevelsky. It is dedicated to the watches from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums.

The museum collection amounts to circa 200 objects. The curators chose for the display the most rare and wonderful watches, that were created in the artistic centres of Germany, France and Turkey. These are the items of high artistic, historical and memorial value.  

“The Moscow Kremlin Museums possess a remarkable collection of West-European watches, created in the 16th-early 18th century. I am glad we found an opportunity to introduce these outstanding works of art, masterpieces in majority, to the citizens and guests of Khabarovsk. An airport is the gate to the city and a splendid venue to present its key landmarks, history and culture. Khabarovsk is the city, where the art is valued and loved, and we are delighted to put on display our projects here – both in the Museum named after N. I. Grodekov and in the international airport,” notes Elena Gagarina, General Director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums.

The photo exhibition is located on the ground floor of the airport. Here, the passengers can enjoy admirable snapshots of the 17th-century pocket watches, created by a German master for Patriarch Nikon, watches of Peter the Great, made of silver and steel, and the gold Turkish watches of the 17th century, decorated with enamel and precious stones. The photographs also show uncommon and rare views of pendant-watches, made of silver, steel and glass in Paris in the 18th century.

The Moscow Kremlin Museums began the cooperation with Khabarovsk in 2023 when the exhibition “Alexander II: Liberator and Reformer” from the Kremlin collection was held with great success in the Khabarovsk Regional Museum named after N. I. Grodekov. In August 2024, another project of the Moscow Kremlin Museums entitled “Gold!” will open in this museum.
